Towards Employment is kicking off a capital campaign called "A Chance to Advance", which will help 3500 low-income Clevelanders launch or advance into a career pathway over the next 3 years. Can you help give us a fresh design to support our goal?
About TE: Towards Employment connects people to careers - helping them prepare, get, and keep a job; and then advance - in this way we change lives, advance business, and strengthen community. Learn more at towardsemployment.org
In a city where many live in neighborhoods of concentrated poverty, there are many barriers that can stand in the way of success. Consider this:
* Cleveland is the most economically distressed large city in the U.S.; 75% of residents live in zip codes with high rates of poverty, joblessness, and vacant housing.
* New jobs are often not "good" jobs: More than 50% of new jobs from the 25 fastest growing regional industries in 2010-2016 pay wages below $35,000 a year.
* White workers earn 10-30%
Towards Employment empowers individuals to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency through employment. We connect people to careers - helping people prepare, get, and keep a job; and then advance - so we change people's lives, advance businesses, and strengthen community. We:
*Have over 40 years of experience helping people gain tools to find a job, navigate life's obstacles, and secure a long-term career.
*Partner with businesses who have confidence in our training programs and personal coaching to prepare new and current employees for career success.
*Use learnings from rigorously evaluated programs to promote greater economic mobility and access to opportunity.
